Sinfonia Brass Section
Brass brings brightness to the orchestra – and not just in the shine of their beautiful metal instruments! The sound can cut through like a clear bell or call, or create mood or ambience, or be rhythmically important. Often trombones and cello share similar themes and rhythms in the music. Sinfonia's brass section has seen some of the most changes in personnel over the years, with section leader, Janelle and fellow french horn player, Iain being the longest standing members. (Iain can also be seen at various times in the woodwind section on bassoon, sometimes on trumpet, and has also waived the baton as our associate conductor for many years!) Our two talented trumpeters this year are both high school students, and with their youthful energy and perspectives bring a lot of liveliness to rehearsals.
